Portland’s Rotture Is Gone But Euphoria Rises From Its Ashes

July 24, 2015• byMichael Strangeways

EuphoriaOpeningWeekend

Our nightlife loving drag 0’licious friends to the south in the Rose City of Porlandia, were very alarmed a few weeks back to discover that their local version of Re-bar/Pony was gonna bite the bullet.

The Rotture/Branx bar/club complex at 315 SE 3rd Ave on the Eastside just south of Burnside (does that ‘hood have a name?) announced they were closing up shop and many a homocentric Portlandian lost their mind…where the hell would they go for a queer rock’n’rollin’, glitter sparkled, drag queened, punkier than thou good time?

Blessedly, Portland’s own Prince of the Nightlife, Samuel Thomas (not the former gay mayor/intern fucker of Portland or the vaguely similar sounding beer) snatched up the space and in the last few weeks he and his team have magically transformed the space into EUPHORIA, Portland’s newest hottest hot spot which has its Grand Opening tonight at 8pm. It’s so new in fact, the paint might still be wet!

Mr. Thomas has booked the lovely RPDR gals, WILLAM and MANILA LUZON to help christen the club  with music by Jens Irish, Jackal and more,  with hosting by:

Hosted by Madame Anita DuMoore, with Kitty KariAll and more TBA.
Visuals & gogos by EXPOSURE.
Hosted by LOCAL QUEEN!

Doors at 8pm, show starts at 10pm!
21+ w/ID

Advance Tickets are gone but there will be a few tickets available at the door if you get there early enough!

The fun continues all weekend with BLOWPONY! on Saturday night and host Shitney Houston and gobs of special guests including probably some trash from Seattle, and then on Sunday with a hot new Tea Dance, SQUEEZE with Jens Irish and Seattle’s own Derek Pavone on hand.

Find more information and keep up to date with the latest information on their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Euphoria-Nightclub

We love a good reason to go visit our friends in Portland!!

About the Author: Michael Strangeways

As the Editorial Director/Co-Owner, Michael Strangeways writes, edits and does about a million other jobs for Seattle Gay Scene, Puget Sound's most visited LGBTQ news, arts and entertainment website now celebrating its 14th year as a media outlet. A semi-proud Midwesterner by birth, he's lived in Seattle since 2000. He's also a film producer who would like you to check out the Jinkx Monsoon documentary, "Drag Becomes Him" now available on Amazon.com. In his spare time, he gets slightly obsessive about his love for old movies, challenging theater, "otters", vodka, chocolate, "I,Claudius", Lizzie Borden, real books made out of paper, disaster films, show tunes, Weimar era Germany, flea markets, pop surrealistic art, the sex lives of Hollywood actors both living and dead, kitties, chicken fried steak, haute couture and David Bowie. But, not necessarily in that order.
