GLSEN Celebrates LGBTQ History Month

October 8, 2017• byMichael Strangeways

GLSENhistory17

GLSEN has great events and opportunities to celebrate LGBTQ HISTORY MONTH! It’s a chance for traditional students (and, all of us!) to learn more queer history.

Dear GLSEN Supporters,

Here are some upcoming events. Please let us know how we can continue to support you, your GSA club, or your school!

LGBTQ History Month

It’s LGBTQ History Month! For LGBTQ students, learning an LGBTQ-inclusive curriculum can mean feeling safer at school. Check out our website for an interactive timeline, coloring books and many other classroom resources to help your school celebrate LGBTQ History Month. Want random LGBTQ historical facts from the timeline to include in class? Text HISTORY to 21333!

Seattle GSA Meet-ups

Student leaders: come to our first Seattle GSA Meet-up! Learn about LGBTQ topics, collaborate with other leaders and get tips to grow the GSA at your school! Sign up now to reserve your spot!

October 18th @ 6:30pm

Lambert House

Coming Out Day

October 11th is National Coming Out Day and we want to hear your story! Share your coming out story for the chance to win an Android Tablet! Post your story on social media and use #GLSENWAComingOut to be entered to win!

Yours in Peace and Equality:

About the Author: Michael Strangeways

As the Editorial Director/Co-Owner, Michael Strangeways writes, edits and does about a million other jobs for Seattle Gay Scene, Puget Sound's most visited LGBTQ news, arts and entertainment website now celebrating its 14th year as a media outlet. A semi-proud Midwesterner by birth, he's lived in Seattle since 2000. He's also a film producer who would like you to check out the Jinkx Monsoon documentary, "Drag Becomes Him" now available on Amazon.com. In his spare time, he gets slightly obsessive about his love for old movies, challenging theater, "otters", vodka, chocolate, "I,Claudius", Lizzie Borden, real books made out of paper, disaster films, show tunes, Weimar era Germany, flea markets, pop surrealistic art, the sex lives of Hollywood actors both living and dead, kitties, chicken fried steak, haute couture and David Bowie. But, not necessarily in that order.
