Alyssa Edwards Snags Her Own Netflix Reality Series, “Dancing Queen”

You just know, Coco Montrese is stewing somewhere about this…

Her arch-rival MISS ALYSSA EDWARDS, the duo both stars of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” Season 5 (and All-Stars 2) just announced she’s starring in her OWN reality series called DANCING QUEEN to air on NETFLIX beginning October 5th. The 8 episode series will focus on Alyssa, aka Justin Johnson out of drag, the tongue poppin’ Texas pageant queen who has won legions of fans for her brash humor, dance moves and on point performances.

Filmed in her hometown of Mesquite, Texas, the show will follow the star balancing her drag life with her dance life; the diva has owned her own dance studio for the last 14 years, so DANCING QUEEN will also feature adorable youth dance students as well as their scary dance moms.

Oh, and expect visits from Alyssa’s drag family including her daughter, Shangela.

It should be fun!

Alyssa is a producer on the show as well (smart cookie!) along with the World of Wonder gang (the producers of RPDR).

All drag fans will be doing Dancing Queen marathons circa Oct 5th…

The queen you know. The stories you don't.

About the Author: Michael Strangeways

As the Editorial Director/Co-Owner, Michael Strangeways writes, edits and does about a million other jobs for Seattle Gay Scene, Puget Sound's most visited LGBTQ news, arts and entertainment website now celebrating its 14th year as a media outlet. A semi-proud Midwesterner by birth, he's lived in Seattle since 2000. He's also a film producer who would like you to check out the Jinkx Monsoon documentary, "Drag Becomes Him" now available on Amazon.com. In his spare time, he gets slightly obsessive about his love for old movies, challenging theater, "otters", vodka, chocolate, "I,Claudius", Lizzie Borden, real books made out of paper, disaster films, show tunes, Weimar era Germany, flea markets, pop surrealistic art, the sex lives of Hollywood actors both living and dead, kitties, chicken fried steak, haute couture and David Bowie. But, not necessarily in that order.
