Bumbershoot Returns in 2023 With Sleater-Kinney, Zhu, The Revivalists, Fatboy Slim, Pussy Riot & More

May 19, 2023• byMichael Strangeways
Pussy Riot

After a change in producers and Covid-19 caused cancellations, Seattle’s beloved Labor Day Weekend music festival returns to Seattle Center for 2023…but, there will be some changes. Including a shorter, 2-day long festival, happening Saturday and Sunday, September 2nd and 3rd. It’s a big change from the years of 4 day long festivals…which had been losing money.

Speaking of money, tickets are currently priced at $110 for a two day pass and $65 for day passes…which in this day and age of $500+ tickets to see headlining artists in arenas, is practically a bargain basement deal.

Headliners for this year (which is, by the way, the 50th anniversary of the first Bumbershoot) include a beloved band from Puget Sound, Sleater-Kinney plus Zhu, The Revivalists, Fatboy Slim, Jawbreaker, Sunny Day Real Estate and Brittany Howard. Plus, the queer Russian queer/feminist collective Pussy Riot and the return of favorites like Shannon and the Clams and The Dandy Warhols.

Tickets and more info available at https://bumbershoot.com/

More poo:

Bumbershoot recognizes the great diversity held within our creative community and serves to amplify and honor the artists that call the Pacific Northwest home. We’re celebrating what it means to be an ARTIST.

Artists shift perspectives, awaken curiosity and, in our shared passion for visual arts, performance, and music, helps us realize we are all under the same umbrella. Together we make Bumbershoot happen.

About the Author: Michael Strangeways

As the Editorial Director/Co-Owner, Michael Strangeways writes, edits and does about a million other jobs for Seattle Gay Scene, Puget Sound's most visited LGBTQ news, arts and entertainment website now celebrating its 14th year as a media outlet. A semi-proud Midwesterner by birth, he's lived in Seattle since 2000. He's also a film producer who would like you to check out the Jinkx Monsoon documentary, "Drag Becomes Him" now available on Amazon.com. In his spare time, he gets slightly obsessive about his love for old movies, challenging theater, "otters", vodka, chocolate, "I,Claudius", Lizzie Borden, real books made out of paper, disaster films, show tunes, Weimar era Germany, flea markets, pop surrealistic art, the sex lives of Hollywood actors both living and dead, kitties, chicken fried steak, haute couture and David Bowie. But, not necessarily in that order.
