Some of you will look at that header and be scratching your heads wondering if Mr. Strangeways had a stroke, but quite a few of you will be jumping up and down like Japanese school girls coked up on Pixie Stix and wasabi and screaming in delight.
The Showbox announced today that the Princess of Japanese Pop, the current reigning queen of the Harujuku Girls, the Asian lovechild of Lady Gaga and Katy Perry…the one and only artist known as KYARY PAMYU PAMYU will be coming to Seattle’s Showbox at the Market as part of her American Tour, on February 13, 2014.
JUST IN TIME FOR VALENTINES’S DAY!!!!!
SQUEEEEEEEE!
Though we’re confused why this venerable and highly beloved performer isn’t playing a much larger venue like Key Arena…after all, the adorable Kyary has legions of fans in the Pacific NW, largely due to our large Asian American population, but also due to the hipster than thou who groove on her ridiculously infectious (as in diseased) pop songs. Yes, the songs (and videos) make no sense, but that’s part of the fun of hits like “Pon Pon Pon” and “Candy Candy”. There are people who think these songs don’t make sense to anyone outside of Japanese Pop Culture, but even Kyari admits her songs are so nonsensical that Japanese people find them odd.
We thinks she’s ADORABLE…also, savvy as hell. She’s 20 and raking in the bucks with all sorts of business deals including her own line of eyelashes. She’s learned well from the School of Gaga.
There will be lines of Asian kids, Paradiscos and glitterbomb homosexuals at the Showbox on February 13 to check out this little Pixie…
