Seems like R Place is determined to stay competitive in the world of LGBTQ nightlife and entertainment. There are new venues on the horizon and hot weekly events like “ElektroPOP!” but R Place is upping the ante with the announcement of a new Thursday night event, “Thirsty” which debuts on March 1, 2012. From R Place’s Facebook page:
R Place introduces a brand new night starting Thursday March 1st. THIRSTY THURSDAYS! The best drink specials in town $6 Double Absout Flavor Cocktails, $4 Cum Shots, $2.50 Bottled Beer Specials, $6.75 Pitchers and $2.50 drafts of Bud and Bud Light. DJ Flow spins all night with Seattle’s Sexiest GoGo Boys from 10pm-2am. Mariah from RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 3 kicks off the 1st THIRSTY THURSDAY and Jujubee from Season 2 hosts Thursday March 8. Cover is still only $3. Performers on at 11pm.
And, the visiting entertainers will hang around for the ENTIRE weekend, not only performing at Thirsty, but sticking around for Lashes on Friday and Saturday, and then hosting R Place’s screening of Season 4 of RuPaul’s Drag Race on Monday night…they’re working those girls HARD for their money!
Mariah Balenciaga will kick off the new night on March 1 (she’s also in town for “The 3rd Annual Nubian Pride Pageant” at the Highline on Saturday, March 3rd) followed by the very popular JuJubee the following weekend. AND, R Place just announced they’ve booked their first Season 4 contestant, the little Puerto Rican spitfire, Kenya Michaels will be in town from March 15th to the 19th. The petite star has earned comparisons to last season’s popular contestant, Yara Sofia…with an accent to match. It’s early days on Season 4 of Drag Race but she’s already won the hearts of several of the judges. Does she have what it takes to go all the way to the finals? Remains to be seen…
Also note that the popular Amateur Strip Show (aka “ASS”) is moving from Thursdays to Wednesday nights, and WET, the wet underwear contest on Wednesdays, will be taking a vacation for awhile.
R Place is apparently determined to be a major player in queer nightlife…good for them!
