Vockah Redu is bouncin’ back to Seattle this week…

New Orleans Bounce star Vockah Redu was in town last June for numerous events during Pride season including the big “Bounce House” party at Fred Wildlife Refuge with Raja and presented by our buddies over at Hard Times Press. The popular entertainer is boppin’ back into our lives during our chillier current season for a couple big events including a party/video premiere at Can Can Cabaret in Pike Place Market. Here’s the skinny on that event, happening this Wednesday at 10pm:

LIVE MUSIC AND VIDEO PREMIERE FROM VOCKAH REDU WITH HOOT N HOWL!
Details: Although the Magnolia Housing Projects have long been demolished, a light post still stands at the corner where youth like Vockah Redu (Javocca Davis) gathered to rap and create beats. The light post marks one of the birthplaces of Bounce music, a genre of rap specific to New Orleans that has invigorated crowds throughout the South. Vockah Redu and the Cru animate the stage with their dynamic revival of dance, music, and art from the street corner to the club. More than your typical hip-hop act, this theatrical performance sets the stage for a sweaty hands down booty up good time, transforming any party, bar, or dance floor in your neighborhood.
Tickets: $5.00

Sadly, it appears this event could be sold out of advance tickets; you could try at the door.

Mr. Redu will also be teachin’ some classes over at Fred Wildlife Refuge on Friday, March 2, 2012 with Cherie Lily:

Back to back celebrity fitness classes!

$15 Per class or both classes for $25

Vochah Redu: 7:00PM ($15)
Bounce artist Vockah Redu is more than your typical hip-hop act, this theatrical performance sets the stage for a sweaty hands-down booty-up good time, transforming any party, bar, or dance floor into a dance party. Come learn some Bounce moves and drop it till it’s hot!

Cherie Lily: 8:30PM ($15)
Cherie Lily is a celebrity fitness trainer, and is performing an exciting new, high energy, one-of-a-kind solo project blending house, acoustic rock, electronica, aerobic dance, and world dance beats. Inspiring and uplifting lyrics will keep you moving, grooving, and wanting more! Welcome to Cherie Lily’s dance genre – HOUSEROBICS! When not performing HOUSEROBICS, Cherie Lily performs around the globe with party rock icon & husband Andrew W.K.!

I don’t see where you buy advance tickets for these classes…you might drop a note over at the FB page, or just take your chances at show up at Fred Wildlife Refuge, which is at 127 East Boylston on Capitol Hill, sorta across the street from the Half Price Bookstore.
