Slightly more introverted than the ComiCon shit-show?
Tomorrow the 12th, head over to MOHAI by 6pm! In partnership with the folks at GeekGirlCon, celebrate your geeky self with a little ice breaker! Join like-minded people with a brief history of Geekdom in the “Seattle Anti-Freeze.” The event will be by the Compass Cafe, so you can grab li’l something to snack on or drink while chatting.
Says MOHAI:
The Seattle Freeze (n.)
1. The chilly social reception one might get from a polite yet uninterested Seattleite
2. An exaggerated myth about Seattle’s character
Apparently MOHAI does this “Anti-Freeze” thing every second Thursday. Hunh! Who knew? The event is free, but the museum admission is not. Regardless, it’s a place for those a bit more lower-key to meet new people, enjoy the coolness of Seattle exhibits, and discuss your cosplays for convention season. And, as it’ll be hosted by the fabulous GGC, it’ll be female-positive—yay! (Remember MOHAI has a Rat City Rollergirls exhibit now?)
So, if you’re a New Nerd on the Block or have been here a while but get sick of the Seattle Freeze, this will be the place for you. Go! Have some fun and mingle, dammit! Because despite your efforts, you simply can’t meet all the cool people online.
