DJ Nark, aka mega event producer Kevin Kauer made a big announcement today about the next installment of his “Hey Tranny! It’s Tranny” party series. As we teased last week, the Seattle Pride edition is happening Friday, June 28, 2013. What we couldn’t tell you was the venue or the line-up…the event is moving to Q, from previous home Neumos, and it’s once again a benefit for Gay City Health Project. AND, it has a killer roster of talent.
It also has a name change.
We suspect political correctness/sensitivity to the transgender community had something to do with it, but since the word “tranny” is highly offensive to a few of our transgender friends, Mr. Kauer went with a contest over at his Facebook page and Nark Magazine website to rename the event…it’s now going to be called:
GENDER BLENDER.
Hopefully, the Hamilton Beach community will not object.
Gender Blender is still “Hey Tranny” but in a shiny new dress and there will be plenty of performers in some lovely gowns. The headliner this year is the darling of New York’s boho queer arts scene, the poet/performance artist/singer/fashion icon known as Mykki Blanco, (not sure who Mykki Blanco is? Check out this interview in Interview magazine…she seems to be allergic to wearing make-up. How gender blendy!)
Some other well known names will be on hand including a trio of RuPaul Drag Race contestants: Alaska Thunderfuck, Honey Mahogany (we hope she leaves her caftans at home) and our own Jinkx Monsoon. Other local talent on hand includes Ben DeLaCreme, The Haus of Lady Dude and the “ladies” of Tuck! including Robbie Turner, Ade, Mama Tits, Jackie Hell and Aleska Manilla. Oh, and Amoania is coming and Roy G Biv and Mister Charming.
It’ll be a gender fucked HOOT!
Tickets are not on sale yet. Stay tuned.
