Now, let’s hear what our contestant has to say…Werk it, India!
India Ferrah, where are you from?
I’m Originally from Roanoke,Virginia but currently Reside in Dayton,Ohio.
When was your first time in drag and what did it feel like? I started Drag at the VERY young age of 12. My brother (who is also gay) had a boyfriend living with us at the time that was a Drag Queen that performed in Roanoke and he put me in Drag and I became OBSESSED with it! I looked in the mirror and it felt like I was a totally different person and I knew then that this was something I’d do for quite a long time.
What makes you continue to perform and represent your community as a drag queen?
The Fans, My Family and My Husband. The Fans are so supportive and show me so much love every time I perform. When I step on stage it sends such a shock of energy through me. My Family has supported me since day 1 and still is. They have come to so many of my shows and still continue to do when I’m around the area and that melts my heart because I’m truly blessed to have such a wonderful supporting family. My Husband puts me together! He is there by my side every show he can be at and he is there dressing me, getting me drinks, taking pictures (for the fans to see). So all of these people push me and continue to make me want perform and represent the community as a drag queen.
What was your first reaction when you heard the news on becoming a RPDR contestant?
Well I’m not gonna lie, but I kind of pissed my panties a little bit! I had been working so hard to get onto this season I put all my time and effort into becoming a contestant. I even took time off from shows to get myself together and prepare to be a contestant and when I got the phone call I jumped up and down and screamed and it was just a mixture of so many emotions. After I hung up I just cried and my husband was there hugging me and it was just an amazing moment I’ll never forget.
How much tension was there in the hotel during the shooting of the show and were fremenies made?
Oh there is always tension. It wouldn’t be Drag without it! I made so many great friends and I never expected that going into the competition.
If you learned something from this show, what would that be?
To be yourself, always be yourself no matter what the circumstances are. Don’t be a fake queen just to impress others around you because sooner or later everyone will see through that foggy piece of glass you put up and that fog goes away! So Just be real. I learned so much from the show that I could probably write a book! Who knows I might just do it!
If you were stranded on a deserted island, what three items would you absolutely need with you in order to survive? Honestly, If I were stranded on a deserted island, I believe I am creative enough and have such a huge imagination that I would be able to find things around me to survive on. However, if I were to choose 3 items to have with me it would be My iPhone, a 2 liter of Mountain Dew, and a HUGE roll of toilet paper. How u doin?
Pick one – Lady Gaga or Cher?
Cher! (Swings hair) Woooahhhhhhh… Hello! She’s Lengendary! The One and Only, so HOW could I not choose her!?
