Obviously, Mr. Strangeways has a strong attraction to Morrissey, the iconic singer both solo and as the front man for The Smiths. (Though to be honest, he prefers solo Morrissey to The Smiths…go figure.) All lovers of all things Moz can revel in his divine glory tonight at Pony as they honor the singer/songwriter at “Hero Worship” their new event series at the bar where they honor their favorite pop stars, musicians and artists. Join DJ’s Merchbot 2000, Up Above and DeeJay Jack at 9pm at Pony for a night of angst, humor and heartache. I’ll be wearing my “frankly vulgar, red pullover….”
Your other option, if you can still get tickets, is the opening of the hit Broadway musical, Billy Elliot at The Paramount which settles in tonight for the first of 16 performances. Starring the legendary and Tony winning Faith Prince and a quartet of adorable and talented child actors in the title roll, the multi Tony Award winning musical with music by Sir Elton John looks firmly established as a musical theater icon for generations to come…though I doubt many high schools attempt to stage this show. How many high schools have expert male teenaged dancers that can pull off this performance? It’s grueling and highly demanding…and, hugely entertaining. Check it out.
