LGBTQ+ Pride month in Seattle starts…
THIS WEEKEND!!!
Yes, Memorial Day Weekend and more specifically, Sunday, May 29th as Pride ASIA returns to their first live, in-person celebration of LGBTQ+ Pride for the Asian and Pacific Islander communities in Seattle since the Covid-19 pandemic. It’s a collaboration with Equity In Education & Partners In Change; and in celebration of National Asian Pacific Islander American History & Heritage Month and produced by Pride Asia.
It’s happening from Noon until 4pm at Hing Hay Park, 423 Maynard Avenue South, in the heart of the International District. Naturally it will be hosted by Pride Asia founder and Miss Gay Filipino, the one and only ALEKSA MANILA alond with Miss Gay Washington/Miss Gay Filipino Emeritus GAYSHA STARR and with a key note address by JOEL BARRAQUIEL TAN, the Executive Director of Wing Luke Museum.
You can also expect more entertainment including drag performances, kung fu demonstrations and music by LGSP and Moist Towelette.
Also: FREE and the public is very much welcome to attend, regardless if you’re Asian/Pacific Islander or not!
There’s also a fun fundraiser for Pride Asia (and Entre Hermanos) on Friday night…it’s ROCK FOR PRIDE and it’s happening all the way up in Shoreline (suburb immediately north of Seattle) at Darrell’s Tavern at 18041 Aurora Avenue North (waaaaaaay the hell up there!). It’s a 21+ event with a suggested donation of $10 and a killer line-up of talent including:
