We’re HUGE fans of Heklina’s TRANNYSHACK especially when the San Francisco Superstar Hostess brings up some of her Girls to Seattle for TRANNYSHACK SEATTLE editions of her uber-alternative drag extravaganza. And, we were HUGELY excited at the news that Miss Heklina and Company would be hitting Seattle on Friday, October 11 for a very special spooky T’Shack Seattle that was partially sponsored by The Seattle Lesbian & Gay Film Festival. (Heklina is the subject of a film playing in this year’s festival which runs October 10 to 20). Trannyshack Seattle was all set to happen on the 11th at Re-bar with Heklina and Ursula Android hosting and performances from several SFO girls and such Seattle luminaries as Jackie Hell, Sylvia O’Stayformore and Honey Bucket.
But, apparently someone goofed and double booked at Re-bar so the OFFICIAL Trannyshack show is now canceled and instead, Heklina and Friends will stage KNOCK-OFF at the much tinier Pony and feature performances on the bar ala “Coyote Ugly”. The cover will be smaller ($5) and FREE for Seattle Lesbian & Gay Film Festival ticket/pass holders. (And, still 21+ with ID).
We’ll be frank. This is disappointing. Love Pony but it’s just not set up for any kind of performance other than go go boys on a pole. It’s also very small and the sight lines are horrible. This will NOT be an ideal situation for anyone who actually wants to experience the joy of a Trannyshack style show. We’ll reluctantly say that it’s better than nothing, but we’re not real convinced by that statement…is it really?
(Ideally, they should bump the final movie at Harvard Exit that night, and stick TRANNYSHACK in that spot…the comfort of a real theater to see a live show! )
Still, it could be a fun party…albeit a very crowded one. If you want to experience with any degree of comfort, I would suggest getting there early and parking your ass on one of the benches and don’t move from that spot until the show is done.
