Seattle Gay Scene is an enthusiastic supporter/sponsor of the Divine Sylvia O’Stayformore and her equally Divine monthly show at Re-bar, BACON STRIP, the first Saturday of every month. Where else in town can you find a showcase for diverse, odd, filthy, fantastic and original drag and burlesque performers? Ms O’Stayformore is the city’s best genteel hostess, adored for her sly, even handed, and DRAMA FREE hostessing style and an eye for giving up and coming talent their “Big Break”. With her usual cast of players that includes a huge assortment of talents and genres, and a rotating array of guest stars, BACON STRIP always features something for every taste, ranging from more traditional lip sync drag to outrageous live performances and a cast that isn’t bound to any kind of drag performance stereotype. All that, plus BACON!

That’s a lot of butt kissing, but we really do love Sylvia and Company and Bacon Strip. So, we’re tickled to make some big announcements, starting with the news that….

The Ms Bacon Strip Pageant is returning for 2012 at a NEW, LARGER venue!

Mark your calendars for Saturday, June 30, 2012 (the weekend AFTER Seattle Pride) for the SECOND annual Ms Bacon Strip Pageant! And, make sure you note that Ms Bacon Strip II is moving to…Lo-Fi Performance Gallery at 429 Eastlake Avenue! While Bacon Strip loves being at their traditional venue at Re-bar, the huge success of the first Ms Bacon Strip pageant last year resulted in a sold out show and people being turned away at the door. Determined to squeeze in MORE Bacon Strip fans, Ms O’Stayformore has booked the much larger capacity Lo-Fi for this year’s production. For those of you NOT in the know, Lo-Fi is on Eastlake, parallel to I-5 and a couple blocks north of the main REI store…it’s a great venue, and sort of an ultra hip hangout with regularly scheduled events and special bookings like this.

There’s a lot more info to be announced in the weeks ahead but Sylvia obviously needs CONTESTANTS for Ms Bacon Strip. Last year featured an amazing line-up of talent including winner, Jinxk Monsoon and Ms Sylvia is looking for an even bigger line-up of amazing performers for Ms Bacon Strip II. If you think you got the required Charisma, Uniqueness, Nerve, Talent, Moxie and that special hint of Bacon-osity, then let her know. ALSO, don’t forget the April Bacon Strip (at Re-bar)  is around the corner and for next month’s theme it’s “Way Off Broadway” Bacon Strip…expect travesties of all your favorite Broadway Show Tunes from the cast including co-hostess Maxine Delacunt, with Olivia LaGarce, Kerry and James Darling, Honey Bucket, Adé, Ursula Major, Cherry Sur Bete, Miss Homo Aragato, DisGrace Jones and Guest Stars Peggy Platt and Mama Tits. The show is Saturday, April 7th with doors at 10pm and show at 10:30pm. Ticket prices are $10/$8 in costume and Re-bar is CASH only.
