Seattle area fans of the legendary Chameleon God Known As David Bowie, Tuesday, September 23, 2014 is a red letter day; SIFF Cinema at The Uptown will host a ONE TIME ONLY screening of the documentary, David Bowie is at 7 pm. The 100 minute long film examines the phenomenal Bowie exhibit at London’s Victoria & Albert Museum which recently closed before embarking on its current world tour. The career retrospective featured hundreds of photographs, props, ephemera and costumes from the nearly 50 year professional career of the iconic British rock star.

This one-time-only theatrical event captures the closing night of the most successful exhibition in the history of London’s Victoria & Albert Museum–a stunning retrospective of the extraordinary life and career of pop music legend David Bowie.
Experience this groundbreaking exhibition–described by The Times as “stylish & outrageous” and The Guardian as “a triumph”–on the big screen in gorgeous HD. The film takes the audience on an extraordinary journey through the “David Bowie is” exhibition with special guests including legendary Japanese fashion designer Kansai Yamamoto, Pulp front-man Jarvis Cocker, and other collaborators, to explore the stories behind some of the key objects that document Bowie’s artistic career, including a remarkable collection of photographs, stage costumes, and other rare possessions from the David Bowie Archive.
The exhibition curators, Victoria Broackes and Geoffrey Marsh, provide fascinating insight into the most memorable music videos and original costumes, as well as more personal items such as never-before-seen handwritten lyrics, album cover artwork, set designs and diary entries, which reveal the creativity and evolution of Bowie’s ideas.
Now on a global tour that has already travelled to Toronto, Sao Paulo, Berlin, and opening soon at the MCA in Chicago, “David Bowie is” now comes to your town through this unique special event.
