Remembering Peggy Platt On KUOW…And, At A Memorial Service

April 12, 2018• byMichael Strangeways

Remember Peggy Platt

For fans of Seattle comedian/actress PEGGY PLATT, you have a couple different options to remember and honor the legendary funny lady who passed away on April 2nd at age 58. The performer, probably most widely known for her partnership with Lisa Koch as the comedy duo Dos Fallopia and their holiday sketch comedy show Ham For The Holidays a yearly tradition at ACT Theatre for years, was also a frequent contributor to Seattle’s Sandbox Radio, the brilliant live variety theater radio show.

KUOW-FM 94.9 will air an hour long tribute tonight (Thursday, April 12th) at 11pm that features the best of Peggy Platt performing with Sandbox Radio over the years and including some of her outstanding sketches including many she created herself as well as ones written by others. The sketches:

“The Chicks And The Bees”, “Mom’s Diner” by Wayne Rawley, “Zombie Elections PSA”, “Spinster”, “Vermin Notes” by Scot Augustson, “Big Bertha”, “Center For Wooden Boats PSA”, “Dos Fallopia”, “In Like A Lion”, “The Slam Poet”, and “Will Act For Food.”

For those of you who don’t listen to terrestrial radio, you can actually listen to the tribute now on the Internet. Go to the KUOW website to listen.

And, many of Peggy’s peers, family members, friends, and admirers will gather at ACT Theatre, 700 Union Street, on Monday, April 16th at 7:30 pm for a celebration of her life.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to Planned Parenthood in Peggy’s name. Go HERE to donate.

A toast to Mary Margaret Platt!

As the Editorial Director/Co-Owner, Michael Strangeways writes, edits and does about a million other jobs for Seattle Gay Scene, Puget Sound's most visited LGBTQ news, arts and entertainment website now celebrating its 14th year as a media outlet. A semi-proud Midwesterner by birth, he's lived in Seattle since 2000. He's also a film producer who would like you to check out the Jinkx Monsoon documentary, "Drag Becomes Him" now available on Amazon.com. In his spare time, he gets slightly obsessive about his love for old movies, challenging theater, "otters", vodka, chocolate, "I,Claudius", Lizzie Borden, real books made out of paper, disaster films, show tunes, Weimar era Germany, flea markets, pop surrealistic art, the sex lives of Hollywood actors both living and dead, kitties, chicken fried steak, haute couture and David Bowie. But, not necessarily in that order.
