Fred Hutch’s “Obliteride” Is Coming Up…Bike/Walk/Run To Fight Cancer

July 28, 2022• byMichael Strangeways

The best event of the summer is the Fred Hutch Obliteride, and everyone is invited! Join us in Seattle on Saturday, August 13 to bike, walk, or run a 5K, OR if you hate doing any/all of those things, donate money to support those who are willing to bike/walk/run in the month of August! At our Friday Night Party, you may enjoy food, music, and more while dancing the night away. And become a part of the world’s collective effort to fight cancer. Each donation funds vital research at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.

They also have a VIRTUAL challenge if you can’t participate on August 13th! The poo:

Virtual Challenge

WHAT: This is our virtual option! Choose any activity you love and complete it from wherever you are.

WHEN: Complete your goal by Saturday, August 13, 2022.

WHERE: Anywhere you choose.

WHO: All ages, speeds and abilities! Participate as an individual or join a team.

REGISTRATION FEE: $35 through Thursday, August 11. Registration increases to $50 beginning Friday, August 12. Kids age 0-9 are free!

FUNDRAISING MINIMUM: None! (But we suggest a goal of $250 or more.)

WHERE THE MONEY GOES: 100% of participant-raised dollars fuel cancer research at Fred Hutch.

REGISTER NOW

And, of course they need huge amounts of volunteers to put it all together and make the event work. If you’d like to help out that way go here: https://www.obliteride.org/participate/volunteer.html

Not to mention, it’s the 10th Anniversary of Obliteride…it behooves you to help them celebrate in some way! After all, Fred Huch has been an international leader in the fights against so many things. In addition to their groundbreaking cancer research, Fred Hutch has also led the way in the Fight To End AIDS In Our Lifetime.

There is NOTHING Fred Hutch can’t accomplish….with a bit of help.

About the Author: Michael Strangeways

As the Editorial Director/Co-Owner, Michael Strangeways writes, edits and does about a million other jobs for Seattle Gay Scene, Puget Sound's most visited LGBTQ news, arts and entertainment website now celebrating its 14th year as a media outlet. A semi-proud Midwesterner by birth, he's lived in Seattle since 2000. He's also a film producer who would like you to check out the Jinkx Monsoon documentary, "Drag Becomes Him" now available on Amazon.com. In his spare time, he gets slightly obsessive about his love for old movies, challenging theater, "otters", vodka, chocolate, "I,Claudius", Lizzie Borden, real books made out of paper, disaster films, show tunes, Weimar era Germany, flea markets, pop surrealistic art, the sex lives of Hollywood actors both living and dead, kitties, chicken fried steak, haute couture and David Bowie. But, not necessarily in that order.
