LGBTQ SIFF Spotlight: “The Miseducation of Cameron Post” and “We The Animals”

May 25, 2018• byMichael Strangeways

Here’s two big LGBTQ films to check out Memorial Day Weekend at the 44th Seattle International Film Festival. THE MISEDUCATION OF CAMERON POST won the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance and WE THE ANIMALS stars Raúl Castillo from HBO’s “Looking”. Both are worth a check out on Friday and Saturday and both films will have guests in attendance.

The Miseducation of Cameron Post

Actor Forrest Goodluck Scheduled to Attend.

Chloë Grace Moretz stars in Desiree Akhavan’s poignant indie drama about three gay teens who meet at a dubious conversion therapy camp in the 1990s, where they refuse to “pray the gay away” and instead accept themselves for who they are. Winner of the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival.

Saturday May 26 · 12:30 PM · SIFF Cinema Uptown

About the Author: Michael Strangeways

As the Editorial Director/Co-Owner, Michael Strangeways writes, edits and does about a million other jobs for Seattle Gay Scene, Puget Sound's most visited LGBTQ news, arts and entertainment website now celebrating its 14th year as a media outlet. A semi-proud Midwesterner by birth, he's lived in Seattle since 2000. He's also a film producer who would like you to check out the Jinkx Monsoon documentary, "Drag Becomes Him" now available on Amazon.com. In his spare time, he gets slightly obsessive about his love for old movies, challenging theater, "otters", vodka, chocolate, "I,Claudius", Lizzie Borden, real books made out of paper, disaster films, show tunes, Weimar era Germany, flea markets, pop surrealistic art, the sex lives of Hollywood actors both living and dead, kitties, chicken fried steak, haute couture and David Bowie. But, not necessarily in that order.
