The New Year and New Beginnings

Hello dear readers I am so excited for this new year 2011! Thanks for your patronage and I’m so glad you dropped by. Wow what a holiday we had at the Stayformore household. It was a simple but very sweet year end. I hope that you came out of your holidaze with some clarity and resolutions for a new tomorrow.

While processing my morning documents in the typing pool I was wondering what to write and I came across my list of favorite blogs I read every morning. In one of the blogs it mentioned a hotel for sale and a got a sudden rush of feelings and memories. The Greystone Hotel in Miami Beach is for sale. I went onto the interweb to find information but could not find the listing however I did find it mentioned on another blog that said it was a poor place ready for a new investor. It reminds me so much of the Hotel in Birdcage which is one of my favorite movies. The hotel used in Birdcage was called the Carlyle Hotel and is also located in Miami Beach. The Greystone is a smaller hotel than the Carlyle Hotel and even includes a roof top deck. I’d love to find out the history and even see more pictures of the Greystone.  Now you know if Sylvia had all the money in the world she would buy the hotel and start her very own Birdcage.   I can see it now, Cabaret shows Wednesday – Friday nights with local performers and of course happy hours serving up Sylvia’s very own Nite Lite drink. On the weekends we would host stock drag show in the style of Finnocio’s /Darcelle’s/Julia’s, tourists would love it. And for the wild and crazy audience I would host Bacon Strip Florida, my Big Gay Variety Show. . The food would be Betty Crocker – Palm Beach Diet Fusion fare with comfort healthy twist. With a 24hr lunch counter for walk up customers. I am not sure if Florida would be ready for this type of place but I would love to give it a try.  It has been a dream of mine for many years and maybe one of these days it will come true.

I am looking forward to Sylvia and Tor’s new location. Last year we talked to Barbie at Purr about setting up a new night that we could bring our show to the hill. It will be a series of three shows to start off with. If you kids love the show we will continue through out the year.  We have a different title- theme for every month, You can think of our show as if Auntie Mame had a night club act, this would be it. Sylvia and Tor will take you through a night of songs featuring old Girl Groups, Vaudeville favorites, and Burt Bacharach and of course some bantering with the audience.

And of course you will also have Purr’s wonderful menu and adorable wait staff on hand to serve you through the evening. Our first show will be on the 13^th of January it is called Sylvia and Tor – Cocktails and Conversation. Show time 8:00pm – 10:00pm. Come on out and join us for a fun time out.

We are also gearing up for our Big Centralia show in May. More details to come!
