Hmmmm…some of us figured that this weekend would be quiet, it being the weekend after Homo-Ween but buttloads of people were out and about last (Friday) night and probably more will be out tonight since there’s so damn much stuff to do! We went to “Beefcake” at Pony last night to check out the latest edition of the ‘zine, “Seattle Male Pictorial” which features Some Lovely (Zexy) Photos from Mr. Sterling and some great music from Freddy, King of Pants and Dee Jay Jack. It was hella fun and we saw TONS of people we know and adore. Good times. AND, you could go back to Pony tonight, (Saturday November 5) for a special show from the iconic Alice Bag, one of the Queens of Punk and the lead singer of “The Bags” will be on hand to read from her new book “Violence Girl” and to perform some songs as well. There’s some confusion about the start time; Pony’s FB page says 5pm (which seems ridiculously early) but Alice Bag’s FB page says 8pm so we’re thinking later is better than early…who gets punk at 5 in the afternoon?
Meanwhile, over at Neighbours, nervous contestants will be preparing for the “Red, White & Proud Mr/Miss Gay Seattle Pageant” produced by the Imperial Sovereign Court of Seattle. Here’s the poo:
Come show your pride at the Red White and Proud Gay Seattle Pageant. Join Mr. Gay Seattle XXXV David and Miss Gay Seattle XLVI Jetta Mae at their step down from their fabulous reign. Neighbors Nightclub, Door at 5:00, Pageant at 6:00. $10 Suggested Donation.
WHO will be our reigning Pageant Royalty for the next year?
And, we would be remiss if we didn’t mention the Birfday Celebrations for Sylvia O’Stayformore’s monthly night of dragtastic burlesque Bacon Strip. The beloved show turns 6 tonight and they’ll be celebrating at Re-bar at 10:30pm, after tonight’s performance of “The Rocky Horror Show”. Join Sylvia, Maxine and the usual company of misfits for a night of shenanigans…this month features “Suicide” performances, meaning each performer won’t know what they’ll be performing until they arrive and draw songs from a hat…sounds potentially DANGEROUS!
Also: real live (well, actually it’s dead) bacon!
