She was once Miss Gay Seattle, a two-time Princess of Seattle, and now DonnaTella Howe is gunning to be the H.B.I.C of the Imperial Sovereign Court of Seattle as its newest Empress. The Seattle Court also affectionately refers to their Empress title as Olympia and if she wins, Miss Howe would be christened as Olympia XLV. (That number is 45, for those of you who aren’t familiar with Roman Numerals.)
“Amongst my time in the court and as a Seattle entertainer I’ve worked with Quake Rugby, Lifelong AIDS Alliance, PSKS, Gay City, the HIV Vaccine Trials Unit, Pride Asia, Seattle PRIDE, and the Senior Center of West Seattle supporting their causes may it be fundraising, outreach or hosting/entertaining for their own causes,” Howe said. “I continue to support my alma mater, the University of Washington taking part in campus LGBT events at both their Seattle and Bothell locations and while living on Capitol Hill, I am readily out in the community and involved thru my day job with Team Diva Real Estate and as an entertainer always willing to lend my support as needed.”
If elected, Miss Howe said she would like to continue the Court’s support of the ORION Center with hygiene supplies, and that having worked closely with Team Diva Real Estate and Retail Therapy, she’s come to learn more about the homeless youth population around Capitol Hill. Howe would also like to diversify the types of events the Court puts on, moving from the stage and stepping out of their ‘comfort zones’. She said her hope is to also see “Gay Day” at Wild Waves at least twice as large in attendance, bringing more communities together.
You can cast your yea or nay vote towards DonnaTella Howe’s campaign for Empress on Sunday, February 7th at the Unicorn, 1118 E Pike St during ISCORE’s In-Town Show and Awards. Door is at 6PM and the show begins 7PM.
