Everybody loves Bernie!
Well, most everybody in Western Washington. Senator Bernie Sanders easily won Washington State’s Democratic presidential caucuses over Hillary Clinton earlier this year and his free public campaign rallies in the state drew huge crowds.
Hoping to capitalize on Bernie’s popularity, the campaign team for Pramila Jayapal who is running for the 7th district congressional seat being vacated by retiring Congressman Jim McDermott, invited Sanders to headline a “Get Out the Vote” rally scheduled for Saturday, October 15, 2016 between 4 pm and 8 pm at The Showbox, 1426 1st Avenue in downtown Seattle.
Sanders endorsed Jayapal in her bid for the seat which angered supporters of State Representative Brady Pinero Walkinshaw, the out gay politician who is facing Jayapal on the ballot; some charged the Sanders camp with not being supportive enough of LGBTQ candidates while saner heads counter charged that a candidate’s sexuality shouldn’t be the primary concern for endorsement or support. Both are Democrats; Washington State’s system has the two top vote getters on the final ballot regardless of party affiliation.
Tickets for the event are free but must be picked up on a first come first serve basis from one of three Jayapal campaign offices on Thursday, October 13 from Noon until 9 pm. The offices are located:
CAMPAIGN HQ: 3131 Western Ave, Suite 422B, Seattle, WA 98121
